Smokers less intelligent than non-smokers?

The anti-tobacco campaigns longer hesitate to harass smokers in major reinforcements sentence shocks and campaigns ever more inventive, but perhaps this new argument launched by scientists at Sheba Medical Center Israel rid of their smoking habit .
We must admit that the argument is "shock" according to scientists behind the study, smoking would stupid.

The IQ of smokers is lower than that of nonsmokers, 7.5 points on average for those smoking a pack a day. Moreover, according to this study, the more a person smokes, the more IQ regresses.

The research was conducted on 20,211 military Israeli army aged 18. Among them, 28% smoked at least one cigarette per day, 3% were former smokers and 68% had never smoked. Among non-smokers, the average IQ was 101, whereas in smokers, it was only 94. IQ decreased with increasing number of cigarettes smoked. To clarify: the IQ of an individual with average intelligence is between 84 and 116.

According to the researchers, smoking and its components will not reduce the mental faculties of smokers: they are at the base less intelligent and therefore more easily encouraged to smoke despite the negative consequences that entails.

So for those who (like me at the time) were hiding behind genetics and accusatory and attractive hypothesis of a gene of addiction, it seems that the solution is much simpler and far less glorious for us! Balls!
