* Encouraging youth to choose healthy foods, such as offering vegetables and fruit arranged so as to be easy to eat (chopped vegetables served in individual portions);
* Allowing students to acquire the skills to prepare healthy meals, for example by giving them practical courses on preparing and cooking food.
The nutrition programs in schools are given a key source of information about healthy eating. Nutrition education in schools will be more effective in an environment that limits exposure to non-nutritive foods and increases availability of healthy foods for santé6. Educating children and youth to the concept of healthy eating and confirmation messages taught by ensuring the availability of good food for snacks and meals at school are important ways to promote the acquisition of 'habits.
