Catching Up. Part 3

August 4th, 2008 by Kilted Eric

Why you ask?  I start taking Community College officially!  Yeah I am going to get learnded!  I will be taking some low-ish level classes in Microsoft applications, and work towards web design, database development, and some programming courses.  I am excited.  I am also excited that I might be getting a new MacBook and a free iPod Touch.  Wicked cool!
Well what about Ry RY with all of this going on?  That little bugger is getting to be a big bugger.  He is starting to go through potty training.  Wee.  He has had a poo poo twice in his potty chair and even a pee pee, which he called PooPoo water.  Parents who read this will giggle, childless folks may think I am gross.

He is talking a lot now a days, putting together bigger sentences as well.  We teach him many words, and he repeats them like a little parrot.  Yes must be careful nowadays.  He loves the Wiggles, and well as Signing Time DVD.  He also loves reading and playing outside in the kiddy pool.  He is a super busy boy.

Well.  That about catches you all up to what’s been going on here.  Talk to ya soon, hopefully on my MacBook.  Keep your fingers crossed.

Catching Up. Part 2

August 4th, 2008 by Kilted Eric

The Lady of the house has been busy being a nanny to two different families.  She has fun, but it is work all the same.  One of the boys is Ryan’s age and they play a lot I am told.  The other lad is younger, but Ryan helps nanny him.  Kind of like an assistant.  She is also busy managing the house and helps keep my head on.  I don’t think I could do all of the things I do with out her.

I am no longer full time at Utilikilts and I have moved from the Production Coordinator position to Phone sales / Inventory guy.  Basically I answer phone calls, take phone sales, and sort and hang kilts.  Fun yes, lower stress?  You betcha!

The reason for this change is I now have one more part time job.  I am a tour guide for a company called Savor Seattle Tours.  I am part of a small team that leads groups of people through Pike Place Market in Seattle.  It is also a food tour!  That’s right, I tell jokes (read bad jokes) stories about the market, and give people generous samples of some of the great food in the Market!  Wow is it fun!

I also still kinda work at Pizza Passion, the little pizza place that my friends run.  I say kinda because I am down to about one weekend a month.  And once September rolls around I will stop working there for a while.

Some more to follow……

Catching Up. Part 1

August 4th, 2008 by Kilted Eric

Did I fail to mention that we have our Internet back?  Oh yes we do.  After a “more than” a week long process, which involved a couple of annoyed – angry calls to the “Spirit of Service” Quest folk, we finally got our service restored.  Now if we can only get the couple of “why in the heck did you charge me for this” charges removed we will be happy once again with our service.

Life here on the “Ranch” has been moving and shaking.  White water rafting season is basically over for us, one more trip in the middle of September to go and we can give our wetsuits a final cleaning and put them away for the winter.  We had a great season of rafting, lots of odd and crazy adventures.  I had my “personal best” when I nearly pinned my raft against a very dangerous bridge pillar, instead I got it stuck on some rocks and had to have the paddlers step out on to shore until the raft was light enough to break free.  Trust me, exciting, scary and a lot of fun.  The whole season could be summed up with a phrase that one of our fellow rafting guides told me, “Wisdom comes from experience, and experience comes from bad choices.”

We had a wonderful time camping in Pacific City, Or.  Ryan is a camping man now.  He loves the tent.  He even took a couple of naps in it!  My brother-in-Law gave me my first Cast Iron Dutch Oven.  Yeah!  I will have loads of fun cooking stuff in this thing.

more to follow…….

I am finally getting ready to “grow up”

March 22nd, 2008 by Kilted Eric

I have finally made a plan to better my life.   After floating around kitchens and other "odd" jobs, I have set goals.

I know, I know.  You saying to your-self, "Our one Kilted Eric is setting….. Goals!"  Well, before I tell you what I am plotting, how about I explain why, so everybody is up to speed.

I am married, with a handsome 2 year old boy, and zoo amount of animals.  Yes, we are planning to have more children, and if a certain psychic in Ireland has anything to say about it, the next child will be Twin Boys.

So, I am a family man.  Like I said at the beginning, I have worked 10 years in kitchens, and a few other "odd" jobs.  One thing I have learned is, making a living for a family in a kitchen is hard.  Very hard.  I want (and she wants too) my wife to be able to be a stay at home mom for our children.  After doing the stay at home dad thing when the Boy was first born, I understand it REALLY IS A FULL TIME JOB AND ANY MAN THAT GETS ON HIS WIFE’S CASE ABOUT IT NEEDS TO BE WHACKED IN THE HEAD BY SOMETHING HEAVY.  Sorry about that, didn’t mean to shout.

Any how, what I need to do this is, drum roll please, money.  I try to live a life not overly dependent on cash, but there are something’s that you can’t get with a smile and a joke (unless your a comedian, ha ha).  Thus, I have a goal, to work at a job that pays me enough money to allow wify dearest to be a great stay at home mom, pay our mortgage bills and have a little left over for a Pizza night once in a while.

Now for the plan, or if your follow (which I am a student of) the GTD (or Getting Things Done) method of doing things, Project: How to archive this goal.

If you know me even a little bit, you have guessed that I am a tad bit of a geek, just a little mind you, some people think I am very hip and cool.  (I have realized that those people are geeks too.  Humm)  I am going to do something with Technology.  Computers or programming, or networks, or something.  I don’t know that far yet.  I am thinking I will go to a school in the Fall for "technology".

I am going to confer with some family, and a couple people I know who do IT work, and get some ideas.  So, if you dear reader have any ideas, toss them my way.  I could use the help.

I am looking at something in the realm of 1 or 2 year school, probably night classes so I can work during the day.   That’s what I have for now, I will keep you posted.

Until we meet again……KE

Leaveing on a Jet Plane!

December 19th, 2007 by Kilted Eric

Question:  Will wearing a Kilt and having a Beard get me flagged by the TSA?  Answer:  Will find out on Friday!

We are off to Minnesota for Christmas will my Family.  It will be my boy’s first time to the land of his father.  I wonder if he will start baby talking with a minnesotian accent?

We will take loads of pics, and if I am on the ball I will post them up for everybody to see!

Have a good Christmas and I hope Santa brings you everything you want!  Remember, Santa believes in you, even if you don’t believe in him!  My wife got me coal!  Well sorta coal.  She bought me a brick of Irish Peat!  Good smelling stuff, it reminds me of our honeymoon to Ireland everytime I smell it.

Cheers!

Ryan’s been busy

September 22nd, 2007 by Kilted Eric

Heres the scoop on what’s been going with Ryan lately.

He was sleeping in a play pen we converted into a crib for sometime now.  Well that was untill He decided to figur out how to pull him self out of it.  Little booger.  We were going to give him his own room at some point, but now we are going to build him his own “baby prison” if you will.  Gee that sound bad on paper.

Basically we are going to build a short wall dividing our bedroom, giving him a space big enough for his RACE CAR BED.  It will be dry walled, and cozy.  With a space on the end for a baby gate.  This way, when he lays down for a nap He will be safe and secure.

Also, Carrie has been bringing him into the bathroom a couple times a day to sit on his potty.  Today He made a poop with me!  A big one too.  With luck, he will be quickly on his way oput of diapers!

Still not “talking” yet, but boy does that kid ramble on.  He always has something to say, even though we can’t understand him.

We (mostly me, for I get excited easily) are getting exicted because in Christmas we will be spending it out in Minnesota with my Mom, and my Brother and his family, and the rest on my realtives!  This will be Ryans first trip out there, and he will be meeting most of these people for the first time.

Well, that just about catches you all up!

No one is here. So quiet. Too quiet.

July 14th, 2007 by Kilted Eric

Carrie is at work, and I took Ryan to Grandma’s house to stay over night.  Carrie are going to a party to celebrate a friend of ours, who is getting into Grad School.  That right I have smart friends!

So, here I am, alone ‘cept  for the animals.  Its nice, but strange.  I can play my music, eat what ever, but I feel weird.

I guess when your with somebody everyday 24/7 you get used to it.

I can’t wait for Carrie to come home.
